After the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary, everything changed…

Fit to Fight® has been offering a response to mass attacks for a long time, but after Sandy Hook, demand for the training increased dramatically. In an effort to reach more communities, schools, and individuals, we created an instructor program to train others as instructors and advocates for training in their communities.

The instructor program consists of 2 full days of training on the curriculum and the 3rd day is an Active Killer Defense® class that is open to the public. Instructors in the course assist with running the class.

The curriculum is by design, very basic. As an instructor you do not need previous training to successfully certify through the program, though it is helpful to have some kind of fighting/self-defense/martial arts background.

About the Program

The Active Killer Defense® program is designed as a cost-effective and immediately implementable response to a mass attack on a public space such as a place of worship, office building, or school. It uses basic moves and movements that are able to be learned quickly and give individuals a fighting chance as their own first responder in a time of crisis.

  1. Unarmed Response: We review and teach a presentation that emphasizes the statistics and need for a response in these types of an attack. You receive the presentation and our notes on how to present the material. We teach the basic strikes, kicks, and movements to disarm a gunman by taking the gun away or tackling the gunman. You receive drills, teaching points, videos, reference sheets, and guided help as needed for teaching this in your community as well as acquiring the necessary gear.

  2. Armed Response: We review and teach a presentation covering some basics of gun use and operation so that participants understand how a gun operates and how to identify guns. It also includes shooting guidelines in terms of angles of fire, foreground/background work, barricade, and maneuvering through a crowd. You receive the presentation, video notes, and assistance for presenting this portion. We teach basic shooting and retention positions to effectively utilize a weapon if it’s available. You receive the reference materials, drills, and other resources to teach this section.

  3. Trauma Care: We review and teach a presentation covering the most important trauma care responses needed in these mass attacks which includes tourniquet use and wound packing. You receive the presentation, video notes, and assistance for presenting this portion. We teach hands on tourniquet use and would packing. You receive resources, key points, video notes, and help purchasing necessary supplies for this section.

About the Instructor Licensing Agreement

Upon getting certified, you receive the materials referenced above. Your certification is good for 2 years, upon which time you will need to re-certify. We will assist in promoting your courses and referring leads/prospects from your region to you. You will be listed on our website as an instructor and receive exclusive access to our instructor group for additional help and guidance as needed.

There is no monthly fee for the license. Your only monetary requirement is the course cost and your own training insurance that lists Fit to Fight® as indemnified.

There is still high demand for this course, unfortunately, and we are looking for committed members in their community to lead the nation on this next step towards eliminating these threats.

Training Matters. We Can Help.
Hope you can join us.
